Rethinking “Normal.” Exploring the changes and trends in social media, bullying and ways to build empathy and self-awareness in our youth. Learn what you need to know to be able to support your child through the stressful middles school and high school years without drama.
Latest trends in Social media apps and devices: What you need to know before your get a device:
Managing devices and your child’s connection to the digital world is a full-time job. Let us share with you the latest applications kids are using and which ones to currently watch for. You will learn the what, why and how to deal with the digital media craze. Learn the current trends and how to safeguard your kids. Participants will create a cell phone agreement template for their family.
Helping your child and family through grief and loss:
Learn strategies to help your family through the journey of healing from a loss of a love one, recent divorce or other traumatic life change. Families will also be provided resources and tools to assist them on their journey of healing. Individuals will complete a healing exercise to honor their loved one in a special way.
Youth Mental Health First Aid:

Learn more about how to support the youth in your life with skills to promote positive mental health. Understand and Respond. Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing mental health or addictions challenge or is in crisis. The course introduces common mental health challenges for youth, reviews typical adolescent development, and teaches a 5-step action plan for how to help young people in both crisis and non-crisis situations. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including ADD/ADHD), and eating disorders.
Purposeful Parenting Workshop
Do you have problems with managing device use in your home? Do you feel like you repeat yourself like a tape recorder? Blending families, single parenting or co-parenting struggles. Let us help you create a peaceful environment by learning how to handle conflict and problem solve while parenting. We help you Create a fool proof family mission, strategies to set expectations, and create a plan that everyone in the family will agree on. Receive important tools to complete your family plan. Included with this workshop is a one-time post event consult with founder and psychotherapist Deanna Marincic MSW LCSW from Gals Institute, to help work out the loopholes the implement of the plan. This program has been tested and proves to be 100 % effective in helping your family have structure, consistency and follow through.

A 6-week workshop delivered to your classroom. Learn tips and tools to build resiliency and
self-esteem. Workshop Box Includes: A handbook outlining every week's message of resiliency with activities. Special visits & messages from amazing guests helping educate on healthy coping strategies and relationship building Parent/child activities continuing to promote our weekly message Parent tips and tools to help promote mindful calm experiences at home All the art supplies you will need for activities and more. Your own google classroom group to document your students’ journey with a final slide show to share with families and class) A weekly classroom zoom contact with a workshop mentor who will help troubleshoot workshop questions and support class experience.
Health Class Education – Have a Gals Institute Clinician who specializes on topics such as: anxiety disorders identification, healthy mood regulation and the brain, trauma, healthy vs toxic relationships, and current treatment modalities for mental health disorders. Talk includes tips and tools for students on managing current stressors tweens/teens may experience.
Resiliency Building Group This group is for At-Risk Kids. Students who benefit are those who struggle with the transitions to middle school or high school, problems with making and keeping friends, a change in student mood, grades and interactions with others. Up to 12 children/teens, meets monthly, 1.5-hour group. Those kids identified through student services needing extra support and discussion.
(Not Currently Offering) I Am… I Can… I Will… Workshop. (2.5-3 hours) Grades 3-5 Girls Only up to 40 kids. Facilitators help participants look at the gifts and skills that make them special. We utilize age appropriate art activities to help tap into the creative brain and build a template of affirmations youth can use when they feel challenged with the pressures of school, sports, and social media expectations. Participants use the skills they have defined in group and apply them to create a plan and vision for moving forward with relationships, family interactions, social skill building, and management of social media.
(Not Currently Offering) Calm, Cool, Capable Kids/Tweens: (2.5-3 hours) Ages 6-16. Boys only or can be tailored to both. Up to 40 students. Educational yet fun workshop that provides general feeling and emotion identification. Custom tailored for ages groups, participants have the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings with peers while counselors make sure all are comfortable in a non-shaming environment, to help build empathy. This workshop involves a hands-on approach to building coping skills which we define for the groups. Teaching how to manage emotions and calm selves down. Participants will learn age appropriate techniques to stay Calm, Cool, and Capable.
(Not Currently Offering) Frenemy No More group for tween girls ages 9-12, up to 20 children, (2.5-hour workshop) Event inspired by Signe Whitson’s friendships and other Weapons workbook, helping girls learn the true nature of friendship. Learn how to identify positive qualities in others and yourself and what makes a good friend. Girls will strengthen empathy while learning healthy boundaries with others.

A community wide program that your school, organization or business can partner with Gals Institute and provide a prevention program for your community presentation has leading professionals sharing what does anxiety look like? Is it anxiety, depression, or angst? Learn about the unique aspects of the adolescent brain. Tips and tools for parents to integrate into parenting including character building and healthy connections important to having resiliency. Explore the relationship between mental health issues with anxiety disorders, substance use/abuse and other current mental health issues been seen todays in clinical setting. Key factors that contribute to increased anxiety and depression that lead to mental health concerns and potential substance use/abuse. A powerful personal testimony about recovery that will offer hope and message of resiliency.
