Successful Relationship Skill Building: DBT Skills Group (Grades 6-8)
DBT has four different ‘pillars’ of skills. Mindfulness, Emotion Regulation, Distress Tolerance, and Interpersonal Effectiveness. core Mindfulness and Distress Tolerance skills.
This 6-week Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) skills group for teen girls’ and boys’ grades 6-8 is aimed at helping participants learn crisis survival skills for challenging intensive emotions. Often times, when overwhelmed, teens will experience emotion dysregulation. Group members will learn a combination of mindfulness and distress tolerance skills from a licensed DBT clinician and DBT clinicians in training to immediately and practically apply to their unwanted mental health symptoms.

What is Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)?
DBT focuses on teaching specific behavioral skills you can use in everyday situations, DBT skills groups incorporate peer support to enhance learning. DBT skills groups are effective for depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, personality disorders, eating disorders, and ADHD.
